Do you keep editing stuff you've just written before going on to the next scene?
Are you stuck on dialogue that seems to be going nowhere?
Not sure how to connect the B storyline to the main plot in the A storyline?

And just write.
It won't be great. It won't even be good. In fact, it will probably be garbage. But it will be done and you'll edit it brilliantly later.

I agree! First drafts are like chopping a trail through a jungle with a machete. Don't expect to lay asphalt, build sidewalks and setup street lights on the first go through.
Yup, David pretty much summed it up there! =) I am so guilty of going back and rereading and tinkering, when I should just be going forward.
Sound advice :) Do you know John Flanagan? He wrote the Ranger's Apprentice series, and when we went to see him, he said something similar. Like, when he got stuck, he let his characters make steak. Those scenes never came up fully in the final product, but they always helped him get through a rough patch ^_^
