ROGUE PRINCESS

Coming 21 January 2020 from Swoon Reads...

A princess fleeing an arranged marriage teams up with a snarky commoner to foil a rebel plot in B. R. Myers' Rogue Princess, a gender-swapped sci-fi YA retelling of Cinderella.
Princess Delia knows her duty: She must choose a prince to marry in order to secure an alliance and save her failing planet. Yet she secretly dreams of true love, and feels there must be a better way. Determined to chart her own course, she steals a spaceship to avoid the marriage, only to discover a handsome stowaway.
All Aidan wanted was to “borrow” a few palace trinkets to help him get off the planet. Okay, so maybe escaping on a royal ship wasn’t the smartest plan, but he never expected to be kidnapped by a runaway princess!
Sparks fly as this headstrong princess and clever thief battle wits, but everything changes when they inadvertently uncover a rebel conspiracy that could destroy their planet forever.

This amazing cover was designed by the very talented

I can't wait to share this story with everyone.

I Am Currently...

Loving: The cooler weather at night. It was a long, hot summer my friends. Plus, there's pumpkin spice in everything these days.

Reading: Cindy Anstey's Carols and Chaos. I met Cindy a few years ago at Woozles' New Book Bash. We didn't really smash each other with our books, it's a party for local authors who released that year.

I was celebrating Asp of Ascension and Cindy was introducing us to Love, Lies and Spies

Fun Fact: I first heard about Swoon Reads from her that night. Now Cindy has a fifth book coming out from Swoon and I will have my own Swoon book published February 2020.

Watching: I'm a sucker for Scottish detective shows. I just finished the third season of Hinterland. Tip: make sure to have the caption on so you don't miss anything.

Thinking about: What to make for supper. Seriously. Every single night. Why is meal planning so hard? Please send me your 'family favourite recipes.

Anticipating: Launching Medallion of Murder, the 3rd book in the Nefertari Hughes Mystery series. This one also has a surprise at the end, my publisher has included a sneak peek at book 4, Relic of Revenge. And at the end of that book is a sneak peek at book 5, Pearl of Possession.

Wishing: That I was talented enough to knit socks. Seriously, I love hand knit socks.

Making me happy: My dog, Oscar! Every dog is a therapy dog, I say. Plus, he's my writing buddy and always keep me and my laptop company.

How about you?

Novel Spotlight: Meet Me In Outer Space

Falling in love never goes out of style.

Edie Kits has a learning disability. Well, not a learning disability exactly, but a disability that impacts her learning. It isn’t visible, it isn’t obvious, and it isn’t something she likes to advertise. In fact, she’s successfully hidden it from nearly everyone in her life, including her college roommate and best friend, Serena.

And for the first half of her freshman year, she has managed without assistance. Edie thought she was in control of her disability, until she meets her match with French 101 and a professor unwilling to hear her out.

Edie finds herself caught between getting the help she needs and convincing her professor that she isn’t looking for an easy out. Luckily for her, Hudson, the badly dressed but undoubtedly adorable TA in her French class, ambles in to help her out…

Excerpt

"You never took a boring Cambridge in pie school?" Dr. Galloway, my academic adviser, asked. His head inclined to the left, his fingertips pressed into the oversized metal desk that separated us in his small, muggy, windowless office.

I stared at him. Took a boring Cambridge in pie school. That's what I'd just heard.

You never took a boring Cambridge in pie school?

Think Edie, think. Deep breath. I should have been watching him and not scanning his bookshelf. Come on. Come on. What did he say? Ugh. What did he just say?

Don't say huh. Don't ask what. Don't ask him to repeat himself.

He’s going to think I don’t pay attention in class and that was why I’m failing. He’s going to think I’m just like all the other millennials he advises, complaining about their classes being too hard. He’s going to think I didn’t care enough to listen, but between the hum of the halogen lights, the fan in his ancient desktop computer, and the faint sound of music in the distance I was doomed.

"I'm sorry, what?" I stuttered. It wasn’t happening; I wasn’t going to figure that one out on my own and I didn’t know him well enough to guess.

"I said: you never took a foreign language in high school?”

Foreign language. Not boring Cambridge. Pie school? God, Edie. Get it together.

Surprise!

I'm thrilled to announce that my latest YA novel , NEVER ONCE will be published by Swoon Reads!

A tough, tech-savvy princess tries to flee an arranged marriage and ends up working with a snarky commoner to stop a rebel plot  in this gender-swapped sci-fi YA retelling of Cinderella.

(cover not final)

Here's the official announcement on Swoon Reads!

I wrote the book last summer and thought it would be a good fit for Swoon. I uploaded it to their site in September and crossed my fingers.

I was completely gobsmacked when I got the news in late November. And I somehow managed to keep it a secret until the announcement was made in mid-February.

Thank you to everyone who read and supported the story. I'm in the middle of MAJOR revisions, but it's exciting to see how the story is evolving. I'm looking forward to sharing all the exciting milestones with you including the cover reveal and ARC giveaways.

While it won't be published until February 2019, you can already support the story by adding it on Goodreads here.

My Latest Publishing Venture

I'm a big supporter of sharing my work online. As some of you know, I almost gave up on writing and then I discovered Wattpad...you can read about that here.

Now, seven published novels later, I'm excited to be partaking in Swoon Reads!

What is Swoon Reads you ask?

It's pretty cool, actually. Like Wattpad, stories are posted on their site for free. Then readers can comment and vote, letting the Swoon Reads Staff know which books are resonating with the reading community, thereby helping them find their next author! But don't take my word for it, here's their twitter bio.

We publish the latest and greatest in YA fiction with the help of readers and writers like you, because we believe that great books are better shared.

Yes, books really are better shared! My mantra.

I've submitted my latest manuscript, NEVER ONCE to Swoon Reads, hoping it finds a loyal following to enchant and charm the pants off.

Hmm...sorry? What's my book about? Oh, right.

*clears throat* It's a gender swapped retelling of Cinderella with a sci-fi twist.

*cues epic romantic soundtrack with an underlying impish beat in the strings section*

As heir to an impoverished planet, eighteen-year-old Princess Tianna is forced to select a husband from an array of interplanetary suitors to ensure a viable future for her people. But instead of choosing a wedding gown, she steals a spaceship determined to flee the arranged marriage.

Tired of being treated like a slave at his stepfather’s android repair shop, Sinter trades in his safety goggles for a tailored suit and executes a daring escape, only to end up stowing away in Princess Tianna's ship by mistake.

Sparks fly as the two opposites battle wits, but they soon realize their schemes of escape come at a dangerous price when they inadvertently uncover a plot to overthrow the monarchy. As they work together to expose the mysterious rebel leader, Tianna and Sinter are surprised to find they share an unexplainable bond and soon their attraction is too great to resist.

Racked with guilt, Sinter decides to reveal his true identity on the night of the ball, but testing Tianna’s affections will cause a deadly chain of events to unfold because the rebels are plotting an assassination and the hired killer is the very last person he suspects.

WHEE!!! How can you resist?

Guess what, you don't have to! Head over to Swoon Reads at this link right HERE and you can start reading Never Once speedy quick.

Psst...don't forget to rate the story and comment.
